Concrete Beauty
As a collateral event of “Adriano Olivetti e la Bellezza”, BBDB Studio proposed a workshop on concrete poetry inviting ten creatives to interact with the Olivetti’s typewriters. Each creative had 48 hours to present at least two artworks reflecting on ‘beauty’ through concrete poetry. Nature is represented with the four elements from antique Greece: fire, air, water and earth. The bracket symbol was used, illustrating these elements through a mechanical rhythm of the human hand on the typewriter. Based on different orientations and alternating the number of spaces, different textures are created. The artworks have been produced using a Lettera 32 and a lot of patience. You can catch some errors, which shows the humanity in contrast to the mechanical device.
